St Vincent de Paul combines immediate practical support with community-based care that remains available after the first intervention.

The Foundation supports this model because women in crisis often need fast, coordinated assistance across multiple services.

Direct referral links ensure donor intent reaches the organisation delivering that support on the ground.

The women’s shelter project

The Foundation’s first project with Vinnies is a new women’s shelter, and it is already underway — our first payment has been made and works have commenced. Angelique reviewed and approved the plans personally before construction began.

The design is built around what families need to feel settled, not just sheltered: a garden so children have space to play, and an expanded kennel area so families can bring their pets with them — the only facility of its kind. Families can stay up to around two months while Vinnies volunteers arrange permanent housing and the support that goes with it.

Foundation advocacy helps direct support toward women-focused crisis services, practical essentials, and pathways to long-term security.
